When done properly, it allows blood to flow to the muscle while partially restricting it from leaving the working muscle.īFR is typically done with low-weight, high-rep exercises, but it produces results similar to lifting weights at around 80% of your 1RM.
Once an application is running, you can click its icon in the Dock to switch to it-this is one of the ways that the Mac enables you to multitask by moving from application to application. For instance, if you have a JPEG file and you’d like to open it in Photoshop, but the JPEG is associated with a different application, such as Preview, then you can drag the JPEG to the Photoshop icon on the Dock to open it in Photoshop. That’s really convenient with documents such as graphics files or text documents that you’d like to open in a particular program. That tells you that application is currently active.Īs mentioned, you can also drag and drop a document onto a Dock icon if you’d like to use a particular application to open the document that you’re dragging. You’ll see the icon bounce up and down a few times and then a small triangle will appear beneath it. Once you’ve got application icons on the Dock, what do you do with them? Well, if you want to launch the associated application, just click its icon in the Dock. Launching and Switching Between Applications In fact, you can sweep your mouse pointer along the Dock and you’ll see the names of icons pop up rather quickly. Notice how the application icon is just, well, an icon when you put it on the Dock? If you haven’t yet memorized all your application icons (which we can sarcastically blame on your poor time-management skills), you can point the mouse at a particular icon to see its name pop up over the icon. ![]() You can easily drag an application icon to the Dock to add it. That way, the application is both a quick click away for launching and a drag-and-drop target for documents. Whenever you come across an application that you’d like quick access to, you can put it on the Dock. By default, Apple puts a bunch of their stuff on the Dock, because, you know, it’s theirs. One main idea of the Dock is it makes it easy to launch the applications that you use frequently. You can then select an item to launch it.įirst and foremost, though, the Dock is about launching applications, noting which are running, and switching between them, as we’ll see in the next section. It can turn a folder of items into a quick-access menu-Drag a folder to the Dock and you can click and hold the mouse button on that folder to reveal its contents in a special menu. This is especially handy with certain types of documents, such as links to Internet sites, but it’ll work with any sort of document. It enables you to manage shortcut documents-Along with applications, you can drag documents to the Dock so that you can launch them quickly with a single click. It’s there so that you can return to it quickly if necessary. It manages minimized windows-Remember that Minimize button that appears as one of the control buttons at the top of a Mac window? When you click it, that window leaves the screen and appears as an icon on the Dock. ![]() It’s a drag-and-drop target-The Dock puts both running applications and your favorite non-running application icons right there at the bottom of your display, making it easy to drag and drop documents onto those icons, thus launching a document in a particular application. That makes it easy to click a running application’s icon and switch to it. It’s an application switcher-Any running application, whether its icon is usually in the Dock or not, will pop up in the Dock while its application is running. It’s an application launcher-As you’ve already read, you can click an icon on the Dock to launch the application it’s associated with. It has a number of tasks that it performs that were previously handled by different Mac interface elements. ![]() One of the reasons that some people dislike the Dock (and others swear by it) is that the Dock is sort of a Dock of All Trades. Figure 3.4 The Dock is the strip of icons that appears at the bottom on your screen. He visited Trinidad and the South American mainland before returning to the ill-fated Hispaniola settlement, where the ‘Indian’ inhabitants had staged a revolt against the Europeans.Ĭonditions were so bad that Spanish authorities had to send a new governor to take over. He was sure that he had found Cipangu (Japan), but it was actually Cuba. What other journeys did Columbus make?Ĭolumbus made three more journeys across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. ![]() He was made Admiral of the Ocean Sea and Governor of the Indies. Columbus reached Spain in March 1493, and claimed his reward in riches. He wanted them to start a new settlement. Columbus transferred to the Nina and left behind the 39 crewmembers of the Santa Maria on the island of Hispaniola. On Christmas Day 1492, the Santa Maria hit a rock and was wrecked. He claimed the island for the King and Queen of Spain, although it was already populated.Ĭolumbus called all the people he met in the islands ‘Indians’, because he was sure that he had reached the Indies. This initial encounter opened up the 'New World' to European colonisation, which would come to have a devastating impact on indigenous populations. He landed on a small island in the Bahamas, which he named San Salvador. What did he discover?Īfter sailing across the Atlantic Ocean for 10 weeks, land was sighted by a sailor called Rodrigo Bernajo (although Columbus himself took the credit for this). The ships were small, between 15 and 36 metres long. The third, the Santa Maria, was a nao – a larger square-rigged ship. Two, the Nina and the Pinta, were caravels – small ships with triangular sails. In 1492 Columbus set sail from Palos in Spain with three ships. Columbus knew that the world was round and realised that by sailing west – instead of east around the coast of Africa, as other explorers at the time were doing – he would still reach his destination. If he could reach these lands, he would be able to bring back rich cargoes of silks and spices. Columbus wanted to find a new route to India, China, Japan and the Spice Islands. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Europeans wanted to find sea routes to the Far East. Eventually Ferdinand and Isabella, the King and Queen of Spain, agreed to finance him. In 1476 Columbus moved to Lisbon, Portugal, and for many years attempted to gain support for a journey he was planning to find new trade routes to the Far East. He went to sea from an early age, and was an experienced sailor by his twenties. Where was Christopher Columbus born?Ĭolumbus was born in the Italian seaport of Genoa in 1451, to a family of wool weavers. He never got close to what is now called the United States. On his subsequent voyages he went farther south, to Central and South America. ![]() He was the first European to sight the Bahamas archipelago and then the island later named Hispaniola, now split into Haiti and the Dominican Republic. In actual fact, Columbus did not discover North America. Explorer Christopher Columbus (1451–1506) is known for his 1492 ‘discovery’ of the 'new world' of the Americas on board his ship Santa Maria. ![]() This idiot installer broke all the windows with total disregard to my carpet furniture and window sill, which he damaged all. To step back in time about the broken windows. Yes, that’s right, the locksets were on the outside of the house. If you were blind and the laws of chance were in your favor to not put in 3 windows the wrong way it would have turned out better. The third window was going to go in backwards till I stopped them. “Yandi” this self-proclaimed master window installer installed Not only the first but the second window in backwards. I thought to myself “well Window Wall obviously hands them out like candy”. The “Master Window Installer” as he so proudly presented his neck tag like it made him one. Window installer did nothing of the sort. Cody assured me that they use 3M safety film covering to stop the shards from entering the house. So, I asked him about protecting my interior from the glass breakage. He informed me that the old windows would probably break during install. Nice guy but full of Window Wall BULL I wanted to give the old windows to Habitat of the Humanities. I wanted some hurricane windows but budget wise could only afford the master bedroom. OMG! By the way I was a superintendent and know BS contractors. ![]() But let me tell you about my experience with Window Wall. ![]() You are welcome to use whomever to install and purchase your windows. I would like to warn those of you thinking about new windows. There has to be better options than this…. He had us “pre approved” for the PACE Program where it would only cost $241 a month - for 30 YEARS! So the price to replace our 11 windows, 3 sets of sliding glass doors and front glass doors was $40,000. Being pushy, not providing a written estimate - or even a business card, calling in to the office to come back with better pricing only good for a day, etc. The salesman from Reece employed all of the sales strategies that I hate. Keep in mind we have been dealing with an absolute nightmare of a situation with the AC since moving in - a discovery of mold throughout the ductwork, an unlicensed HVAC person impersonating someone else, then the AC unit which just turned 5 (just out of warranty) died and was being replaced while he was here. The salesman from Reece Windows arrived a couple of days later. We had a door to door salesman come asking to set an appointment. They definitely should be replaced as well as the sliding glass doors and front door. The windows in the house we purchased are Alcan single pane windows I’m sure are original to the house which was built in 1991. I always think the real test of any company’s service is when there is a problem, and how they handle it.Replacement Windows? We recently moved here from NC. Clearview Windows remedied this for us having eventually found the problem, not that they had to but because they wanted to ensure that as customers we were looked after. The irony was the problem was not of their making, or defective products, but was due to defects in the construction of our floating floors adjoining the doors. Three times their engineers came out promptly when we called, and they really worked incredibly hard to resolve the problem. We were delighted with the completed installation! But……post installation an issue arose with the French doors, which only happened in extreme cold weather conditions. The installation went smoothly, with their team always on time and leaving our home clean as a pin each day. We opted for the brown/black frames but with white internally, and a beautiful Aluminum front door, and three sets of French doors. Clearview Windows replaced all of the doors and windows on our 5 bedroom detached home, so a fairly large job. I have recommended using the -i option of rm command so that it asks for confirmation before removing the files. Please be extra careful while entering the commands to delete the files. If you are familiar with Linux command line, you should be able to do it easily. To remove Popcorn Time from your system, you have to undo everything you did to install it. However, if you are interested, I would suggest reading these Popcorn Time tips to get more out of it. You can start watching your favorite movies straightaway. Well, that’s all you needed to install Popcorn Time on Ubuntu or any other Linux distribution. Once you do that, you can enjoy the movies and TV shows. On the first launch, you’ll have to accept the terms and conditions. Troubleshoot: If you don’t find the Popcorn Time in system menu immediately, run Popcorn-Time in the terminal. Now you can search for Popcorn Time and click on it to launch it. You can do that using the command below: sudo wget -O /opt/popcorntime/popcorn.png For that, you can download a Popcorn Time icon and save it as popcorn.png in /opt/ popcorntime directory. One last thing to do here is to have the correct icon for Popcorn Time. When asked for saving, enter Y and then press enter again to save and exit. If you used Nano editor, save it using shortcut Ctrl+X. Ubuntu has Nano installed by default so you can use that. You can use any command line based text editor. To do that, you need to create a symbolic link to the executable in / usr/bin directory. Step 3: Make Popcorn Time accessible for everyone Unzip the file to the specified directory in Linux terminal like this: sudo unzip Popcorn-Time-0.4.4-linu圆4.zip -d /opt/popcorntime/Īs a few readers have notified that Popcorn Time 4.4 is not working on their systems (it is fine on my system), I advise you to install the dependencies mentioned in step 0 and run sudo apt-get -f install afterwards. The new Popcorn Time 4.4 is available in zip format. While you can extract this tar file anywhere, the Linux convention is to install additional software in / opt directory.Ĭreate a new directory in /opt: sudo mkdir /opt/popcorntime The downloaded file is a tar file that consists of an executable among other files. Once you have downloaded Popcorn Time, it’s time to use it. I advise that you remove the files from /opt/popcorntime and redo this tutorial. If you were using Popcorn Time 3 previously, the older version stops working. Simply follow the instructions and copy paste the commands I have mentioned. A flat white is typically made with whole milk and an additional shot of espresso. Most are pretty self explanatory, like an iced Americano, lattes, and macchiatos. Then we have a series of cold brews topped with cold foam-a creamy foam that's often flavored. It appears that Starbucks, like many other coffeeshops, are veering more into cold brew (comprising much of the menu) which offers a smooth, flavorful drink with less acid and bitterness than a traditional iced coffee. Then, lattes are topped with either frothed cream, milk foam, or whipped cream. Lattes are made using steamed milk and fresh shots of espresso. Caffe latte actually means 'milk coffee' in Italian. Back in the day, Starbucks didn't have cold brew-only drip coffee that's been chilled. A latte, otherwise known as a caffe latte, is an Italian espresso drink thats creamy, indulgent, and rich. There are also a few drinks I'd steer clear of.īut first, a breakdown of the cold coffees menu: Whether you're looking for a sugary drink to soothe a sweet tooth or a creative cold brew that'll mix up your typical order, I've got you covered. Like I said, I typically veer toward simple, coffee-forward drinks, but that doesn't mean a caramel macchiato is bad! In fact, it was pretty good. In the end, I'm including almost all of them in this list because, well, tastes and (dietary restrictions) vary. I tasted my way through almost the entire cold coffee menu at Starbucks to find the very best drinks to order. Besides Frappuccinos, Starbucks now has a huge selections of cold coffee drinks to choose from-how do you pick? On the other hand, an iced macchiato is often served in a smaller glass due to its layered presentation, with the espresso forming the top layer and the milk. When I find myself at Starbucks, my typical order is a cold brew or sometimes, if I'm feeling adventurous, one of the newer creations with cold foam on top. While I love a good pour-over coffee or cappuccino, I drink iced coffee year-round, rain or shine. ![]() You can reduce your risk by making sure you maintain high standards of hygiene.
